Key Drilling Projects
This section highlights some key drilling projects for Griffiths Drilling, in their
size, level of difficulty and the specific challenges they presented. The most recent of
these are displayed in the box to the right.
Wellington Centerport Drilling
Brian Perry/ Tonkin & Taylor (2007)
Because most of this project was carried out over water on a barge in Wellington Harbour
we had to contend with the rise and fall of tides and weather over water. We also had to
recover samples from very soft sediments.
Wellington Inner City Bypass
Transit/ OPUS / Fulton Hogan (2001-2006)
This project involved working all around inner city roads with high traffic volumes and
pedestrians. Also the artesian-fed water table meant the ground water was under
pressure.
Saddle Rd Bridge Palmerston North
BECA (2005)
Even though this was coring very loose sands we were able to execute these with 100%
recovery.
Bunnythorpe Bridges
Manawatu District Council/ GHD (2004)
There was a sense of urgency with this project, as we were soil testing for the
construction and repair of the damaged bridges following the Manawatu floods.
